Young Male Cardinal (icmoore)
He is a little bit younger than the one that I started posting right after Mother's Day and his parents are the regulars in my backyard that I post a lot of.

Thank you Code, Surfmom, Juslivin, Ally, and Linda! Surfmom that is such a beautiful and moving video. Juslivin, I'm with you, hurry up spring! I hope to catch spring fever and get back into taking pictures and when I do I will start a new blog. Linda, what a beautiful picture and beautiful words! After 26 years of being without my siblings and other family members I can now say I have lots of new loveshine in my life and the sun is shining here today, too! My big sister and I can not go a day now without checking on each other which is special to me beyond words. I was totally unprepared for how I would feel when I saw her for the first time, tears of joy just started flowing...Then when I got home and looked at the two pictures that were taken of us I cried again, happy tears. I hope you all have special people in your lives and thank you for being in mine. Happy Valentine's Day to all of you here at WU!!

Surfmom, thank you and you should definitely keep the faith! I had given up and never, ever thought that this would happen to me!! I am amazed at the bond that was still between us after all these years. She is so sweet! I don't know how we could all have let so much time go by. Petty differences, youth, stubborness, and then the fear of being hurt again probably all played a part. The thing is I'm not sure it would have ever happened without Facebook. It was a safe place for each of us to get reacquainted slowly one by one until we were ready to see each other again. My oldest brother really gets all of the credit. He was the bridge that brought us all together. Someone had to stick their neck out and risk being rejected and I couldn't make myself do it. It is so wonderful to be in touch with people that share my early memories again.
Linda, you were so right spring is coming! I just came in from taking my dogs out and while I was outside I heard a Mourning Dove cooing, Cardinals cheeping, and a Woodpecker pecking :)
If any others of you join Facebook please look me up (Cathy Pinholster Moore)and send me a friend request. I even have a friend that was in my 1st grade class but moved away sometime afterwards. It's still all pretty amazing to me the power of the Internet and the power of love!

Hi Cathy,

I am so sorry I am so late getting here.
First of all I want to say I'm sorry about the death of your Father. It is always hard to lose a parent.

Then I want to say Wonderful! that you and your siblings are talking again and you and your sister have become so close. That is great.

Familes are sometimes difficult relations, especially sisters.. my sister and I hardly spoke for several years but finally had to when Mother got sick. We still live in very different worlds but have learned to just get along when we need to for family's sake.

And this winter, especially Jan and Feb have been horrible but surely spring will eventually come! I have not even been able to get out in my back yard; it really needs a lot of work.

Anyway, cannot wait for you to get back out taking photos again.

As for Facebook, my kids are all there and a lot of family and friends, but I just do not have the time for any other networking....
it is hard enough for me to keep up here on WU! And I love this place.

Take care and come back soon!

Thank you, Gams! You probably understand more now why I always take such great pleasure in your family pictures.
Our Mom was the glue that held our family together and when she died the grief and differences took over. I am so happy to have my big sister back again..We are both old enough now to know that life is not forever and we have missed so much..like our children growing up and her having Grandchildren..and so much more but I don't want to dwell on those things I want to rejoice in the time we have left to be together :) even though we live in different states.
Spring will come but not tonight. We are suppose to see 25 degrees here tonight!!!
I don't have much time lately for networking anywhere and I held out for a long time going to Facebook but having all of my family members scattered around the country it has been a godsend. It is very different but I'm so glad I finally went for it but my first love will always be WU!!!

You enjoy your evening!

Cathy, the photos of the birds are fabulous! Amazing that you have so many varieties visit your backyard. What do you do to attract them to your yard? I am impressed.

Dear Ms. Moore -

I am giving a lecture in New Zealand later this month that includes a discussion of birds' vision. It is free and open to the public (see http://bit.ly/K0a1a ) I should like to use your photo "Male and female cardinal" (1788) as an illustration in the lecture and in the local publicity materials. If you consent to this, would you please tell me the appropriate way to credit the photo, e.g. "Photo credit: Full name"

Best regards -

Noticed you been posting in DocM's recently and that you're on/near the water at Madeira Beach.

You better be popping back up when you can, so we know all's well at your place.
